AutobahnAutobahn is the German for a motorway. In the former West Germany there is an widespread network but in the former DDR the motorways are somewhat less extensive. There is no overall speed limit but a limit of 130 km per hour is recommended and there are lower mandatory limits on certain stretches of road. As yet there are no tolls payable on German Autobahns.
